Belief in Religion - Free Will Or Social Conditioning?
[info]neuxner

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Most people believe that everyone to some extent has a belief system that is in part made up of their social conditioning. For instance as one person puts it; if you are free from social conditioning then why would you wear cloths? Why would you send your kids to school? Why would you get married?

Why would you do anything that other people are doing? Is social conditioning a bad thing? Is religion a bad thing? Do you really have free well; are you exercising your free will to its full extent? Not long ago when I heard these questions asked towards my self, I had to laugh a little bit and I replied;

Funny you should mention the clothes thing? Well I am typing here naked and I wear clothes to keep warm and/or clean that makes sense. And I wear clothes when I am out so that I am not arrested because society has made it illegal due to their laws, which some of those customs make sense sometimes for cleanliness of our civilization and other times they are a burden.

Laws should not be made because some group decided that a naked human body was nasty, dirty or immoral. Most of the laws regarding the wearing of close our religious based, let's face it. Of course, it makes sense to wear clothes some times, the laws make it necessary all the time.

Society should audit its laws now and again. But alas the Global Warming Alarmists tell us we will all be nudists in a few years due to the heat, so lose some weight so everyone will still respect you and you can feel secure in your self-esteem.

Re: education, well I quit college for entrepreneurship. Too much schooling will make one too brainwashed and linear in thought; too little education will cause hardship living amongst the masses. Knowledge is power, but make sure what you are learning is the straight skinny.

Regarding marriage; Humans choose mates out of need for companionship, it is hard wired. That is a choice many people make, research also shows it helps the immune system and happiness, even longevity. Good reasons all.

Social Conditioning is not always bad, but it can be bad. For instance over political correctness, over zealous religion, attack on the individual (mob mentality) or ridicule or belittling to exert control. In many cultures you do not have a choice in religion you must follow the religion of the country you were born into and if you try to change they might chop off your head. So there is freedom of religion and free choice and a free execution.

These are all interesting things to consider. I certainly hope this article is of interest and that is has propelled thought. The goal is simple; to help you in your quest to be the best in 2007. I thank you for reading my many articles on diverse subjects, which interest you.

Spirituality, Occult & Metaphysics - Gullibility or Awareness?
[info]neuxner

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Some people may be too quick to accept metaphysical
theories and methods without much consideration, but
unfortunately, blind acceptance doesn't usually lead to
complete comprehension.

Most people who advocate various metaphysical concepts
don't automatically accept new theories. For many, having
faith in an idea that can't be proved or disproved such as
reincarnation involves questioning, considering various
explanations, applying the idea to their own life and the
lives of others, and looking at other possibilities. Only then,
after finding no good reason to discount it, will they accept it.
With an unbiased attitude, diligent research, and intuitive
awareness, truth is uncovered.

An example is the past life regression therapist who does
many regressions, careful to remain objective, while compiling
impressions and details about his clients' past lives. Many,
many cases offer explicit, verifiable details about distant, even
ancient cultures such as types of societal standards like common
marriage arrangement particulars, and even specific addresses
and descriptions of particular houses and places of
employment. Do these things prove reincarnation? No. Does
it prove reincarnation when the hypnotized client begins
speaking in a foreign language, one previously completely
unknown (in this life)? Again, no, but it sure lends a lot of
corroboration for supportive theories of reincarnation.

Ironically, it's frequently those who condemn the belief in
metaphysical concepts who display gullibility, believing
misinformation (such as that of the organized religion they
follow) all too readily without bothering to do their own
objective research.

More and more people are opening up to alternative spiritual
theories. It's not too surprising that books like "The Da Vinci
Code," by Dan Brown are best-sellers today.

That which is looked upon by one generation as the apex of
human knowledge is often considered an absurdity by the next,
and that which is regarded as a superstition in one century,
may form the basis of science for the following one.

The Handyman Syndrome
[info]neuxner

Image : http://www.flickr.com

I've worked with dozens of contractors, and with a few exceptions, they have all suffered from what I call the "handyman syndrome." This condition, however, is not limited to only craftsmen and tradespeople though it is especially prevalent in that industry. This is just a more specific way of illustrating E-Myth's picture of the three personalities within a business owner: technician, the manager and the entrepreneur. Respectively and said simply, the do-er, the planner, and the dreamer. The handyman syndrome is a particularly stark example of how fusion to the technician persona causes serious business problems.

The Entrepreneurial Myth, the myth that business owners are entrepreneurs when in fact they are usually technicians who had "entrepreneurial seizures" is especially interesting to apply to Solopreneurs. These are people who are in some cases so purely technician that they have not yet even had their seizure yet, and therefore they are some of the most fused-to-technician business owners around. Their inner manager and/or entrepreneur in fact do not get much room for expression at all.

Many people are happy with this and that is of course fine, but they unfortunately too often do not see the effect their technician mentality has on the other aspects of their practice when they are not pounding nails, setting tile, or framing walls. This article will explore the consequences of the technician mentality in tradespeople, especially but not only Solopreneurs.

I use the term handyman deliberately because it has a kind of unsophisticated connotation that is meant to quietly offend an expert tradesperson. It is a prod to help you discover that you are more than that. It suggests someone who is limited in ability: someone who can fix an outlet but not rewire a house, repair a sprinkler system but not install new plumbing, install a new lock but not plane down a door for a perfect fit. You get the idea. But these are only the skills connoted by the handyman. I am talking about the handyman mentality, and that is way more important, since it is upstream of all of his skills. The way we think and are is always upstream of what we do, and so the greatest leverage for change is in the thinking/being domains.

The handyman mentality is an order-taker. Tell him what to do and he goes to work. Give him the tools and the job site and his head is down. He may have a yellow pages ad, but waits for the phone to ring. He's got past customers, but he doesn't have their contact information or a mailing list. If they need him, he says to himself, they'll call. Besides, he's keeping busy with new customers, new jobs, and new orders to take.

He's thought about hiring an assistant, but that seems like a lot of work. He'd have to be able to depend on a steady stream of a lot more income then he has now. He's not sure how much that is, or even how he'd figure that out. He's not so comfortable with Excel. Besides, he's busy working and too tired at the end of the workday to plan for the future. Who knows what the future will bring?

The calls keep coming, the orders keep coming in. Hiring someone would just complicate things: payroll taxes, workman's compensation, insurance, management. He thinks about it sometimes in the 100 degree heat, or when he has to crawl under a house, but at the end of the day, after a job well done, it just doesn't seem worth it. Mostly, he's just too busy to dream, much less plan.

This is not just the story of a carpenter. It is the story for almost any Solopreneur, and often still applies to someone who's got an employee or two. Without a Vision of where the business/practice is going, without a plan of what is next, the handyman is destined to go wherever the wind blows. With no plan, there is no direction but whatever arises.

Of course, any Solopreneur who wishes to stay small certainly has that choice and this is no judgment of that. The problem is when such a person's handyman mentality trickles into domains that limit their opportunity, their success and their fulfillment. Let's look....

The difference between a successful general contractor and a handyman is not in size, scope or volume. It is in attitude. In sales, the handyman is an order-taker. The G.C. is an expert consultant. The handyman, who is often humble, hard-working and meek, feels grateful to have the opportunity to work in someone's home. Often they do not own a home themselves when they are just getting started. The handyman is shy in the client's home and does not look around. If they do, they do so only in glances, staying focused on the job at hand. The G.C. would ask for a tour and take their time.

The G.C. steps into the client's home respectfully, but they are not shy about taking up space. They look around. They are an expert in craftsmanship and are not shy about it. They notice things and make comments. They notice the door does not quite fit the threshold when they walk in. They notice the windows are thirty years old at least. They notice the leaky kitchen faucet. But when they make comments, they have a rapport with the homeowner that makes it come off as helpful not critical.

"Does this door bother you much?"

"These old single pane windows are costing you some money, eh?"

"I've got a great plumber, if you want me to take care of that leak for you."

To the G.C. every job-site is a catalog of opportunities and work. To the handyman, it is a place where they must ask permission to do anything other than why they were called in the first place. The G.C. expert consultant knows that the homeowner may have no idea how simple or inexpensive it could be to fix that faucet or that door. The G.C. knows that maybe the man of the house is shy about it; maybe he tried to fix it himself and failed. Maybe he installed that faucet himself and hasn't been able to bring himself to relook at it.

Who knows? The G.C. is confident enough to ask questions and make suggestions; in short, because he understands the value he brings to the table. The G.C. is happy to grab a new washer from his truck and install it for you in a couple minutes, because he knows it might have been bothering you for months. Maybe it's even been the spark of conflict in the homeowner's marriage.

Meanwhile, the handyman quietly goes about his business. He's focused on the job at hand, not the scores of opportunities around him. The G.C. has a vision for what the home could look like if he was given the time and the budget. The handyman is focused on finishing the work, getting paid and moving on to the next job.

The handyman gives a verbal bid, or a loosely organized email, or something neatly hand-written on lined paper. The G.C. submits a proposal that exactly covers the scope of work, the exact cost, and by when it will be completed. It has each component of the work broken out so the client can compare apples to applies and/or remove pieces of the job to cut costs. It's typed. It's delivered in person or at least with a phone call following up.

The handyman says about when he's going to show up and shows up 15-20 minutes later. The G.C. is on time, every time exactly as promised. The handyman makes the bid and waits. The G.C. follows up because he wants the work and wants to know why he wasn't chosen to do it. He's interested in continually improvement, not just continual busyness. He cares about his impact on people and so he'll proactively ask the client why he was or wasn't chosen, because he's willing to accept criticism and work with it. The handyman has his head buried in the sand.

You get the idea? This sales example is just one of dozens of ways in which the handyman mentality cripples the growth of what could otherwise be a thriving business.

What this is really about is the inability for a technician-fused person to hold a context-thinking bigger. Customer fulfillment is a context, customer relationship is a context, engaging with a customer about possibilities requires bigger thinking. Holding this kind of context requires confidence and the willingness to assert yourself as an authority on a subject.

The lack of confidence in skilled laborers is tragic. Maybe it's because they lack the education that many "white collar" professionals have and so shame themselves. Maybe it's because they drive trucks instead of fancy cars. Maybe they didn't do well in school because they needed to learn with their hands. I don't know.

What I do know is that I have seen many a skilled laborer perform magic. They can cut things to exactly fit. I mean exactly. They can assemble things so they don't leak, short out, or fail to work the first time. They know where to apply the oil to stop the squeak. They can paint razor straight lines without masking, and cover it in one coat. They know what's wrong with your engine just by listening. They know what's wrong with your furnace by smelling. They can see the difference between 7/16 and 3/8 and save themselves thirty minutes in the hardware store because of it.

They must think this stuff is normal. They must not know how incredibly difficult, frustrating and time consuming it is for the average person to do this kind of stuff. Like schoolteachers, they are under-recognized and underpaid. These people keep our lights on, our water running, and our homes warm and many of them sell themselves short every day. I would gladly give away my expensive education to have the knowledge to build a fine home, foundation to roof.

As skilled as they are in the content of their work, though, the handyman mentality drags them down and keeps them small. They have the skills to do their job, but not the slightest idea about how to run a business. The handyman doesn't see the need for a marketing strategy, or a strategic Vision, or a 36-month rolling budget, or sometimes even a standard contract. To the handyman, it doesn't seem that important. The work keeps coming, after all.

But eventually, something will go wrong. Cash flow is a problem because there was no tracking mechanism. A customer refuses to pay for something because you didn't create a change order. The work dries up because you don't have a lead generation plan and the market shifts in a way you didn't foresee. Something will eventually happen because in the same way you are responsible for having the technical skills to do your work, if you work for yourself you are responsible for having the business skills to hold the context of your organization.

This is empirically obvious. You may not realize it yet, but if you work for yourself you are responsible for a great many things beyond the content of your work. Tax and liability issues, licensing, insurance, labor law, contract law, intricacies of borrowing money, P&L and cash flow analysis, budgeting, job costing, accounts receivable management, writing ad copy, tracking lead generation, sales strategy, presentation scripting, organizational strategy, and on and on and on. Some of these things you have to do, others you can get away with not doing, but you are responsible for all of it.

It's actually simpler than knowing how to build a house. It's about as difficult as most high school education. The difference is, it's relevant to your business and your Life every day.

You are already a master of your trade. Bravo! Really. It's amazing what you do. You could teach me how to tile a bathroom, frame a house, smelt copper, or mud drywall. You're an expert in your trade. But are you an expert in business itself? Can you see that you need to be a master in this realm as well? It can be learned just like anything else. It's not rocket science. Can you see yet how many missed opportunities and problems come from not what's missing in your trade skills, but your business skills?

As a business owner, you are responsible for more than just being a master of your trade, you must seek to become a master of business itself. Otherwise, you are destined to remain a handyman forever, regardless of your trade.

The Best Short Haul Winter Sun Holiday Destinations
[info]neuxner

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Following yet another disappointing summer, many of us find our thoughts turning to trying to find some winter sunshine. But long haul holiday destinations are quite often too expensive, or for some of us, the thought of that long flight is just too much to bear, so I'm going to look at some options to help us get away this winter, to holiday destinations all within three hour flights of the UK.

Malta: Malta is a small island just east of Tunisia and south of Sicily, an island that is full of endless activities, stunning scenery, and a captivating history that is guaranteed to keep you busy throughout your stay here. Often referred to as an open air museum, Malta combines its fascinating history with modern cultures to perfection with inspiring castles and striking architecture. You can walk in the footsteps of St Paul in Rabat's catacombs, and see where the Knight's of St John defended Christendom at Fort St Elmo's. You can even walk in the footsteps of famous film stars as movies such as Gladiator, Troy and Alexander were all in part filmed here. There's lively St Julian's, where you might even be lucky enough to catch a top international D.J. at one of the local bars or nightclubs.

The quieter resorts of St Paul's Bay, Bugibba and Qawra are extremely popular during winter and there are two beautiful beaches at Golden Bay and Mellieha It is fair to say that Malta's image has altered vastly over the last thirty years or so; there aren't many holiday destinations that offer the heritage and culture of years gone by with the chance to experience some of the best Mediterranean nightlife around. Its natural beauty draws travelers back to Malta year after year, but its party atmosphere is now attracting the younger generation. Temperatures can fluctuate between early sixties and late seventies and there's always a packed social calendar in Malta so despite it's laid back persona, there's never a dull moment. So for some winter fun with your winter sun, Malta is probably one of the best holiday destinations you could choose.

Tunisia: As far as winter holiday destinations go, is simply one of the very best, but then again you'd expect nothing less with a history that dates back to 814 BC. The historic city of Carthage, a UNESCO world Heritage site, is possibly one of the most breathtaking archaeological sites in the country; built by the Phoenicians, then destroyed and subsequently rebuilt by the Romans its fascination and beauty are practically unrivaled. Some of the finest beaches in Africa are found in Tunisia making it one of the best winter holiday destinations for that much sought after winter sun. Shopping will see you spoiled for choice between cosmopolitan shopping centers with designer outlets; to traditional stalls set in beautiful medina's where you can barter for traditional Arabic souvenirs and authentic African goods. Its landscape is beautifully baron yet perfectly verdant enough to have featured in films such as The English Patient and Star Wars, adding to the fascinating lure of this countries magic. With around five or six hours of sunshine a day, and winter temperatures well into their sixties, Tunisia is an excellent choice among winter holiday destinations.

Costa del Sol: The Costa del Sol is one of the most popular year round holiday destinations, located on the southern coast of mainland Spain, with over 100 miles of coastline and a variety of resorts to select from. The tranquil resort of Nerja is a peaceful haven along a busy coastline; relatively unspoilt you'll find no concrete high rises here, just breathtaking views and pretty coves hugging the sparkling Mediterranean waters. Lively Torremolinos is a vibrant resort linked to neighbouring Benalmadena by a chic, cosmopolitan marina overflowing with everything from small fishing boats to multi million pound yachts and an authentic American paddle steamer.

Benalmadena is one of the most popular family resorts on the Costa del Sol with a wonderful promenade and abundance of bars, shops and restaurants to suit every taste. There's a beautiful park with a lake full of wildlife, a Dolphinarium and Sea Life Center to name just a few of the attractions here. Next stop along the coast is Fuengirola; another favorite choice for families with fabulous beaches, great shopping and a trip to Fuengirola Zoo an absolute must. Further south still you'll come across the affluent resorts of Puerto Banus and Marbella, the ideal places to do some star spotting, not up in the sky but around the restaurants and bars of the prosperous marina, holiday hot-spot of the rich and famous. The Costa del Sol has been a strong favorite among winter holiday destinations for a long time with some people lucky enough to be able to come here for long stay holidays to escape the harsh British winter, and often enjoy temperatures in the high sixties.

Costa Blanca: Probably the first place that comes to mind here is Benidorm with its wide sandy beaches and concrete hotels full of family fun and entertainment that create an almost iconic skyline. The bucket and spade shops, neon lit karaoke bars, and hustle and bustle of this family friendly resort, epitomize everything that is good about great winter sun holiday destinations. Extremely popular with the older generation who love to 'retire' here to avoid the harsh British winters, yet increasingly popular with the younger generation, especially since the filming of ITV's 'Benidorm' series in this very town. There are other resorts in this area though; quiet and sophisticated Albir is just a twenty minute drive away and offers a more relaxing, laid-back outlook on life. There's also Alicante, home to the region's airport and one of Spain's quickest growing cities where the streets come to life with a superb choice of cafes, bars and restaurants. The weather in winter on the Costa Blanca is mild compared to much of northern Europe, there are the occasional cooler days, however the warm climate here makes it an extremely popular choice as one of the better long stay holiday destinations.

Majorca: Majorca has been one of the best year round holiday destinations since the rich and famous started coming here in the 1930's. By the 1980's though Majorca had become a little less affluent and was perhaps better known for cheap and cheerful holidays that everyone could afford, gaining a reputation as attracting 'lager louts' who paraded about in union jack shorts. Majorca has worked extremely hard on reinventing itself though and has re-established itself as one of Europe's favorite holiday destinations again, especially with families who return year after year to it's clean sandy beaches and resorts with excellent entertainment and great facilities. Winter months see temperatures remain above a healthy sixty degrees with around five or six hours of sunshine a day. The island's capital, Palma, is fast becoming one of Spain's most enticing and stylish cities, it's breathtaking cathedral stands majestically above the harbor, where multi million pound yachts bob in the warm winter sun. Holidays to Majorca have it all, from lazy beaches to vibrant nightlife, fascinating history to modern culture, making it the ideal place to choose out of the many winter holiday destinations on offer at the moment.

The Algarve: The Algarve's stunning rocky coastline covers an amazing 155km, and stretches from Cape St Vincent in the west to Villa Real de Santo Antonio to the east. Standing on the cliffs at Cape St Vincent you're at the most south westerly point in Europe and as you gaze out to sea, there's nothing between you and the American coast but the stunning Atlantic Ocean. It's also a bird spotter's paradise as many species stop off here as they migrate south for the winter. The Algarve is highly popular with golfers at any time of the year, but especially during the winter when the sun is not so hot and a stroll around the course is extremely pleasant. Many of the Algarve's sea side resorts started life as sleepy little fishing villages and while a lot have retained their traditional charm and tranquillity, despite the increase in tourist traffic, others have expanded into busy holiday destinations with superb water sports, varied family entertainment and vibrant nightlife.

Albufeira, Montechoro and Vilamoura combine traditional towns, stunning beaches and lively nightlife to perfection, while Praia de Luz and Alvor are superb examples of tranquil resorts and are very appealing to families. The regions capital Faro, also home to the Algarve's airport offers a historical look at the region with monuments and museums depicting Portugal's impressive heritage. The rocky coastline, mild winter temperatures and fantastic golf facilities will ensure that the Algarve continues to be one of the most popular winter holiday destinations for many years to come.

Botanical and Herbal Tonics
[info]neuxner

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Botanical and herbal tonics have excellent natural recuperative abilities along with a wholesome diet that includes fresh air, sunlight, moonlight, and exercise (physical, mental, and spiritual) in no certain order. Tonics made with medicinal plants, roots, herbs, and vegetables do their work gently and thoroughly-sometimes not as quickly as one would like them too; yet, no one can hurry Mother Nature and all of her glorious processes.

Botany is a field of biology and the scientific study of plants. Evolution by natural selection is the basis of botany along with growth, development, structures and functions (enzymatic mechanisms and metabolic pathways) based on the fundamental principles of chemistry and physics. The physical and material bodies of plants consist of the following compounds (i.e., phytochemicals and phytomedicinals):

Carbohydrates

Proteins

Lipids

Minerals

Water

Enzymes

Plants and herbs possess significant medicinal potency and have been used as traditional or indigenous food staples, medicinal substances, and medicinal ingredients. Both are still used in natural healing remedies, aromatherapy and flower essences (including aetheroleum and balsamum, essential oil extracts, incense, and resins), restorative elixirs and beverages (hot or cold teas, juices, syrups, hot or cold soups, tinctures, tonics, and potions), dietary and nutritional supplements, balms, hot and cold compresses, culinary flavoring and spices, dyeing, inks, and ceremonial rituals. For example, licorice root (Glycyrrhiza glabra, Glycyrrhiza uralensis-i.e., Chinese licorice), peppermint (Mentha piperita), cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum, synonym C. zeylanicum), bitter melon (Momordica charantia, balsampear), bitter orange (Citrus aurantium), and spearmint (Mentha viridis, Mentha spicata) are generally very agreeable to the taste and are able to cover up the gustation of many disagreeable herbal tonic recipes and curative remedies.

Herbal tonics have been used for thousands of years since the time of Ancient Egyptian physician Imhotep and have made great contributions to the health and well-being of many people around the globe from a holistic framework. Mead was the highly spirited "tonic" of Ancient Egypt consisting of fermented honey, water, and yeast. The Ancient Egyptian Papyrus Ebers (circa 1550 B.C.E.) offers information about the use of medicinal herbs that included caraway, cumin, fennel, myrrh, and peppermint. The Smith Papyrus (circa 1600B.C.E.) and Brugsch Papyrus (circa 1300 B.C.E) were also extensive Ancient Egyptian medical documents related to the Ebers Papyrus.

Vitamin and mineral tonics can range in potency and ingredients. There are drinkable tonics for almost every ailment and condition known to humankind; for example, Goji Berry or Wolfberry (juices, teas, and tonics), Vitamin B tonics, iron fortified tonics, tonic wines, Mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana) juice, and more. Search the Internet and one will find a plethora of herbal tonic recipes and remedies based upon early Folk or Eclectic Medicine.

Botanical, Herbal, or Spirited Vinegars can be included in the category of natural healing solutions as well. Some of the most common botanical vinegars are-Aromatic Vinegars made with fragrant lavender flowers, orris, rosemary, bergamot, neroli, apple cider, tincture of balsam, or tincture of benzoin (similar to Friar's Balsam, Compound Benzoin Tincture, or Compound Tincture of Benzoin), and other aromatic flowers; Balsamic Vinegar (for minor cuts, bruises, and pain relief); Four Thieves Vinegar (a.k.a. "Four Thieves Wine"-the formulary for this vinegar dates back to circa fifteenth century southern France and was used for protection against the Bubonic Plague; today this is used by Hoodoo Root Doctors and practitioners for protection against psychic attack); and Rose Vinegar (for use as an astringent facial wash).

Botanical and herbal tonic formulae can be found in use from African Traditional Medicine, Ayurvedic Herbal Medicine to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). These formulas can range from the very simplistic combinations to the complex in terms of their ingredients. Herbal tonics can be of the bitter nature called "Bitter Tonics" for use in the stimulation of one's appetite (and the flow of saliva) while improving digestion. Chamomile, Columbo (Calumba or Colomba) Root, Quassia, and Peruvian Bark are fine examples of Bitter Tonic herbs. Herbal tonics most certainly include infusions or teas (i.e., pouring boiling water over herbs, leaves, or flowers and then letting it stand for a short period of time before drinking) and decoctions (i.e., a process of boiling roots, barks, woody chips, stems, rhizomes, and seeds).

Traditionally and historically, most herbal tonics have specific medicinal uses, functions, and properties as well as some being particularly for seasonal use. Not all herbal tonics or teas are meant for daily use. For instance, lemon grass, mint julep, and lemon verbena teas are perfect during a warm, summer afternoon. Use only the finest quality of superior herbs (that are sulfur, chlorine, and aluminum phosphate free) for your concentrated tonic extracts for potency and efficacy sake.

"Where a cure can be obtained by diet, use no drugs, and avoid complex remedies where simple ones will suffice." Dr. Ar-Razi wrote this about 1,000 years ago as a means of alternative medicine practice stemming from Hippocrates (c. 460 BCE-377 BCE) who coined the following statements:

"Let your food be your medicine."

"First, do no harm."

From Lucius Annaeus Seneca's (c. 4 BCE-65 CE) Letters from a Stoic:

"You've observed, surely, how a person's limbs drag and his feet dawdle along if his spirit is a feeble one? And how the lack of moral fiber shows in his very gait if his spirit is addicted to soft living? And how if his spirit is a lively and dashing one his step is brisk?"

Dr. Ar-Razi understood this and based his holistic practice of medicine on balancing the mental, emotional, and physical processes and functions of the body where the balance of these is essential to good health. This is similar to being in homeostasis or the balance of the mind (mental), body (physiological), and soul (spiritual). Ailments, diseases, and malfunctions of and within the human body disturb this balance or equilibrium of one's Yin-Yang, Qi, Chi, Ka, and Aura. Botanical and herbal tonic preparations possess natural, curative phytochemicals that can bring about balance within the human body.

And remember: There is no substitute for the careful use, safe handling, and application of botanicals, herbs, and herbal preparations in any form.

Winter Vacations - Warm Weather Destinations

Do you need a break from the cold? If you need to thaw out then consider taking a vacation to a warm weather destination. You will return tan, refreshed and ready to brave the rest of the winter. Here are some suggestions for taking a winter holiday.

First off, you need to decide how long you can get away and how much travel you want to do. Since most of the U.S. is cold in winter you'll have to go south to find warm weather. If you only have a few days then it makes sense to keep your winter trip close to home since you don't want to spend a large part of your holiday on a plane.

Consider visiting southern Florida which has loads of options and tropical weather throughout the winter. Miami is fantastic for visiting the beach, soaking up the sun and enjoying the nightlife of South Beach. If you want a slower pace and fewer crowds, consider the Florida Keys. Key West is a quaint city full of bed and breakfasts with plenty to do for the entire family including water sports and nightlife.

A bit farther (but not by much) is the Caribbean. You'll need a passport and the flights are more expensive but it is well worth it. There are tons of tropical islands from which to choose and there are French, Dutch, British, Latin and other influences to give you some culture. The Dominican Republic is know for its inexpensive all inclusive resorts; included in the packages is accommodation, food, transfers and water sports.

If you have more time and money then consider taking a winter vacation in the Southern Hemisphere which is summer during the U.S.' winter. Rio de Janeiro has the world famous beaches of Ipanema and Copacabana with Sugar Loaf as a rugged mountain backdrop. Since Rio is a large city, it boasts five star hotels, fine dining and many nightlife options. Another holiday destination south of the equator is Australia. The Gold Coast is full of sun and sand options and the cities of Sydney and Melbourne have a European feel. If you're up for some adventure then visit the interior and explore the outback.

Southeast Asia is a popular destination due to its affordability and richness in culture. Singapore is not only full of sights, luxury hotels and culture but it is known for being a very clean country. Malaysia has many white sand beaches and islands with accommodations ranging from simple bungalows to lavish resorts. Thailand is another country brimming with ancient sights and gorgeous beaches and its people are known for their hospitality.

If you need to find some warm weather then there are many options for winter vacations. Take lots of pictures and don't forget your sunscreen!

Quantum Physics Plus Magic Equals Money
[info]neuxner

Now that we have entered the Age of Aquarius, we have the Laws of Quantum Physics to help us better understand Money. These Laws give us a new paradigm on how to attract money and why most people do not have money.

Simply stated, the Laws of Quantum Physics tell us that there exists an infinite ocean of thinking, intelligent energy called the Quantum Ocean. Everything that was, is or will be exists in the Quantum Ocean. There is no time there, no past, present, nor future, only the NOW. There is no space there only the HERE.

The Laws tell us that everything is energy. You are energy, the physical world is energy and money is energy. Money energy exists in the Quantum Ocean and manifests as money, gold, bonds etc. on the physical plane.

We also should know that our physical body is surrounded by our Aura, which is energy. What energies you carry in your Aura attracts people, places, events and money into your life.

Bottom line about money is this: if you have money vibrations in your Aura, then money will be attracted to you. If you have energies in your Aura that blocks the money frequencies, then you remain broke. Attracting money into your life has nothing more to do than the vibrations in your Aura.

Therefore to attract more money into your life, you have to do two things. One is to fill your Aura with money vibrations and the second one is to eliminate or transmute the the negative money vibrations in your Aura.

Nobody wants negative money vibrations in their Aura. Where did they come from. The negative money vibrations of Mom and Pop and the prevailing negative money vibrations of society (only the rich have money because only the the rich have positive money vibrations in their Aura.) Don't forget the religious nonsense that most people carry in their Auras about it being better to be poor and humble and it would be easier for a camel to get through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to get into Heaven.

How do you fill your Aura with money vibrations? Use the Magic of the Laws of Quantum Physics. They tell us that thoughts are things and the Quantum Ocean where everything exists responds to our thoughts. It also responds to symbols.

Your thoughts and the symbols you use to meditate upon create your life. There fore think new thoughts, meditate on new symbols. Think money. Don't be fancy. Don't think about jewels, or fancy cars or big posh houses. Think about money and gold coins. Use the powerful "I am" statements. Whatever sentence you begin with the words "I am" makes a direct connection to the energies in the Quantum Ocean which in reality is the Mind of God.

Visualize your pocket full of money. Pick a drawer in your dresser and see it overflowing with money. See stacks of Gold coins on your desk table. Stay simple. You want money and gold, visualize only money and Gold.

Find and use symbols that represent money. Meditate on a $100. bill, a gold Krugerrand, a silver dollar, Even a dollar sign drawn by you on a piece of paper will work.

A very powerful symbol to attract money is the Norse rune FA. Runes are keys to the creative energies of the Universe.

Start every day with a Jingle:"Money, money comes to me, I love money, money loves me"

Get started, you have to fill your Aura with money vibrations and clean out all negative money vibrations. This takes time.

[info]neuxner

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Certainly when it comes to finding out what the top ten travel destinations are there are a plethora of sites around on the web today which can offer you a list all of which say is the definitive one. However probably the best place to start looking for the top travel destinations around the globe is by having a look at what the World Tourism Organization website has to say on the subject.

Each year the World Tourism Organization will release data that lists the countries that have had the most number of visitors to theirs from other ones. Plus it also helps to show those countries which have seen an increase in the number of foreign visitors visiting their shores. For example in 2005 the number of tourists visiting China has nearly doubled and the same could be seen for Turkey as well.

Currently the most popular continent to be visited by most world travellers today is Europe with Italy being the top destination of all European countries. Whilst France, UK, Spain and Germany then follow close behind. Around 18% of all world travellers to Europe go to Italy, France and Spain. The reason why Europe is so popular is because of the architecture, culture and the history of many of its major towns and cities.

Another popular destination with other travellers around the world is Africa with Egypt being the most popular of all countries in this region with both South Africa, Morocco, Tunisia and Rwanda being close behind for visitors to come to.

However if you are looking for something a little more exotic then certainly in recent years the number of tourists taking a vacation in China is on the increase. In fact people are looking to visit countries such as China, Japan and Thailand as they have grown without being too strongly influenced by Western ways and methods.

In fact as previously mentioned the best place to search for details of the top ten travel destinations around the world today is to look at the World Tourism Organization site. Currently you will soon discover that it is Western European countries which are dominating the top of many lists now to be found online.

Some of the best destinations are available at Eurostar ticket
